题目：Elucidation of endothelial lipase as a new target for elevating plasma HDL-C levels

内容：

Atherosclerosis is the major cause for death in the world and development of a new therapeutics for treatment of this disease is very important. It is well known that high LDL levels and low HDL levels are the risk factor of atherosclerosis. At present, statin is the best lipid-lowering drug to reduce plasma LDL levels. However, there are about 30% of patients who cannot be properly treated by statins alone. To elevate plasma HDL levels, several targets have been suggested such as CETP and endothelial lipase (EL). In our laboratory, we have been using rabbit models for investigating EL functions. In this seminar, I will introduce results obtained from these rabbit models and discuss the possibility whether we can use EL as a target for elevating plasma HDL levels as a novel therapeutics for the treatment of atherosclerosis.

报告人简介：

　　范江霖，日本山梨大学大学院综合研究部医学分子病理学教研室主任教授，中国自然科学基金海外评审员，教育部长江学者教授海外评审委员会委员，美国心脏病学会院士，日本动脉硬化学会国际委员会理事，国际转基因家兔研究会会长。

研究领域：

　　分子病理学，动脉硬化，炎症，糖尿病，转基因动物模型

工作经历：

    1986年毕业于中国医科大学，公派留学至日本佐贺医科大学，先后获硕士、博士学位；

    1992年至1995年于美国加州大学旧金山分校Gladstone研究所就读博士后；

    1995年至2006年于日本筑波大学基础医学系病理学、先端学际领域研究中心担任课题组负责人；

    2006年至今，日本山梨大学大学院医学工学综合研究部分子病理学教研室，担任主任教授。

研究成果： 

　　主要研究方向为动脉硬化的发生发展机制，已发表SCI论文150多篇，其中包括：J Clin Invest, PNAS， Circulation, Circulation Res, ATVB, Pharmacol Ther, JMol Cell Bio, Am J Pathol等杂志，已承担并完成多项科研项目，获奖十余项。
